Welcome Members Advantage FCU Members!
Members Advantage FCU, which consisted of public employees from the cities of Arvada and Wheat Ridge,
the Arvada Fire Protection District and the Apex Park & Recreation District, has merged into Westminster FCU.
This merger officially became effective on November 1, 2009 but until we merged the two computer systems
we were still operating as two credit unions. The computer merger was completed on January 31st.
MAFCU members are now able to use all our live services…especially the popular Shared Branching Network.
With this merger, Westminster FCU now encompasses an area from Northglenn to Lakewood and Denver to Golden.

ROTH IRAs & the End of the Bush Tax Cuts
With a Roth IRA, you won’t have to worry about changes in rates and brackets, and neither will your heirs. For years, a cardinal rule of retirement investing was to put every penny you could into IRAs, 401(k)s or other tax-deferred accounts. That advice rested on an assumption that after you stopped working you’d move into a lower tax bracket. That was important because the money you take out of a tax-deferred account is subject to ordinary income tax.
But with the Bush tax cuts expiring at the end of 2010 and Income and capital gains tax rates slated to rise in 2011, that assumption about tax brackets no longer seems like a sure thing. The uncertain tax outlook is paralyzing. The whole idea of not knowing how much money you really have saved because you don’t know how much you will lose to taxes makes it impossible to plan.

Sure, you don’t get the tax advantage up front, but they grow tax-free, there are no mandatory withdrawal amounts at 70½ and the best part is that you withdraw the money tax-free, so you don’t have to worry what the government is going to raise the tax brackets to when you are retired!
